ARTISAN (PRODUCTION): MECHANICAL SERVICES MAINTENANCE

SALARY: R230 898 per annum (OSD)

REQUIREMENTS:
The role of Artisan (Production): Mechanical Services Maintenance at the Government Printing Works (GPW) in Pretoria requires a candidate with a strong background in mechanical maintenance and repair. The minimum educational qualification is a Grade 10 or equivalent, complemented by a completed apprenticeship and a Trade Test Certificate in a mechanical-related field. A valid driver’s license is essential, while a Grade 12 qualification will be considered an added advantage.
DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT PRINTING WORKS: Candidates must have prior experience working in a manufacturing environment and demonstrate a willingness to work shifts, as extended working hours may be required to ensure the efficient operation of the production facility. The successful applicant will be responsible for the mechanical maintenance and repair of various production services, requiring a thorough understanding of the equipment and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues promptly.
DUTIES: DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT PRINTING WORKS
The primary responsibilities of the Artisan (Production): Mechanical Services Maintenance include:
- Performing routine and breakdown maintenance on a range of mechanical production equipment to prevent downtime and ensure the continuous operation of the facility.
- Providing regular progress reports to the supervisor according to predetermined timelines and formats, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Adhering to specifications, regulations, and procedures to ensure the quality and safety of the work performed.
- Assisting in conducting root cause analyses on service equipment breakdowns and reporting the findings to identify and address the underlying issues.
- Managing the status of work orders, from submission to completion, to maintain an efficient workflow and minimize backlogs.
- Performing and monitoring quality assurance measures to ensure that all maintenance and repair work meets the standards set by the GPW and regulatory bodies.
- Carrying out administrative and related functions, including providing inputs to assist in the preparation of maintenance and repair reports.
- Adhering to SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) processes to ensure the safety and well-being of all personnel.
