Job Overview
The Department of Water and Sanitation is seeking a skilled Artisan Foreman Grade A (Electrical) to oversee bulk raw water infrastructure maintenance at Jericho Dam. This role is perfect for an experienced artisan with strong electrical expertise looking to advance their career in infrastructure management.
Minimum Requirements:
✔ Qualification: Electrical Trade Test Certificate
✔ Experience: Minimum 5 years post-qualification as an Artisan
✔ Driver’s License: Valid and unexpired
✔ Technical Skills:
- Electrical maintenance & inspections (Cathodic Protection, TRUs)
- Fault diagnosis on SCADA/PLC and telemetry systems
- Technical analysis & report writing
- Computer-aided applications & drawing interpretation
✔ Soft Skills: - Problem-solving & decision-making
- Teamwork & leadership
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
- Planning & organizational skills
✔ Knowledge of: - Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Performance Management and Development System (PMDS)
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Maintain & repair electrical components in dams, reservoirs, pump stations & pipelines
🔹 Inspect and repair equipment according to industry standards
🔹 Perform scheduled maintenance & fault diagnosis
🔹 Ensure quality assurance and compliance with safety regulations
🔹 Update maintenance logbooks & compile reports
🔹 Supervise & mentor junior staff
🔹 Keep up with latest technologies & industry advancements
🔹 Work both independently & in a team under pressure
🔹 Candidates may need to complete practical & theoretical assessments
