About the MacMillan Foundation

The MacMillan Foundation is a registered non-profit company created by SNAPP Architects to promote training, education, and empowerment in the architectural field. The Foundation is committed to supporting previously disadvantaged women under the age of 35, giving them access to opportunities that enable them to complete their studies and establish successful careers in architecture.

In addition to financial support, the bursary is backed by mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and a strong support framework to guide students into becoming the next generation of critical thinkers and innovative designers in South Africa.

Fields of Study Covered

The bursary is awarded specifically to:

  • Black female students studying towards a Postgraduate Degree in Architecture.

Through this programme, the Foundation seeks to assist academically strong candidates who may lack the financial resources to further their studies within the architectural field.

What the Bursary Covers

The bursary will provide funding for one year of study. Payments will be made directly to the student’s academic institution after proof of registration and an official tax invoice have been submitted.

Final awarding of the bursary depends on:

  • The applicant’s final academic results
  • Proof of tuition fees from the university

Successful candidates will also be required to sign a bursary agreement with the Foundation.

  • Must be studying or intending to study towards a Postgraduate Degree in Architecture

  • Must have no criminal record
