The Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) participated in the official launch and handover for the Ngqungqushe Campus and Renewable Energy Training Centre at Ingwe TVET College in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape
The function focused on a key theme of education and skills development, and allowed local learners and unemployed youth the opportunity to engage with representatives of the skills development sector and learn more about their career choices.
Local learners presented with safety and security sector career possibilities at Eastern Cape launch
SASSETA’s involvement in the function included engagement with local high school learners and unemployed youth.
Attendees had the opportunity to interact with the SASSETA team, and gain insight into their career possibilities and choices relating to the safety and security sector within the post-school education framework.
Engaging with local learners in this manner supports young participants to understand their various possibilities in the post-school education space, including the differences between studying at a university of technology (TVET), occupational training institution, or choosing a different sector for further study, especially if they are not certain which pathway they wish to take after finishing school.
The Renewable Energy Training Centre highlights technical and vocational skills development
This particular launch focused on the Ngqungqushe Campus and Renewable Energy Training Centre at the Ingwe Institution, however the presence of both SASSETA and the other stakeholders at the event reflects the emphasis on skills development and youth employment.
