Gwarube also urged teachers to uphold very high professional standards so as to help them accomplish their important task.
Why Teacher Recognition Matters
Teacher recognition programs (TRPs) are an incredible opportunity to bring much-needed attention to the incredible educators who go above and beyond to ensure that their students get the education they need. Here are just a few reasons why we need to recognize teachers:
Educators can truly make a difference in the lives of their students.
Besides simply passing on knowledge, they also guide learners through their academic journey and offer them advice on how to be successful members of society.
TRPs also shine a light on the many ways in which teachers benefit not only their students but also their communities and the wider society. By recognizing and celebrating them, we are encouraging all teachers to aim for excellence in everything that they do.
A Celebration of Teachers’ Role and Impact in Education
The Johannesburg brunch was a wonderful opportunity for education partners and stakeholders to gather and celebrate the achievements of outstanding teachers from across the country.
Through the speeches by the award recipients, the brunch also served as a great reminder of the important role that teachers play in educating South Africa’s youth.
As the country endeavors to improve learner performance and transform education, it is through the efforts of these unsung heroes that the goal will be achieved.
